WYLD, James (1812-1887), London Wyld's Globe of the Earth with the latest discoveries, 1838 A 12-inch (32cm.) diameter terrestrial globe, made up of two sets of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores, showing the United States before the purchase of California, Arizone and Texas, ( some old cracks due to globe expansion, other abrasions and minor damage ), with metal axis, graduated brass meridian circle and hour ring, mounted in English-style four-legged table stand, the papered horizon supported by four turned legs, with cross stretchers, lacking brass centre post -- 18½in.
