SCHEDEL, Hartmann. Liber chronicarum , Nuremburg: Anton Koberger 12 July 1493. 2° (451 x 308mm). 223 leaves (of 326, with the final blank, but lacks ff.269-71, blank save for headline), 64 lines and headline, table and parts of text in double column, gothic letter, several initials at the beginning supplied in red and blue, xylographic title, over 1,800 woodcut illustrations, including a double-page world map and a double-page map of Europe, from 645 blocks by Michael Wolgemut Wilhelm Pleydenwurff and their workshop, most likely including their young apprentice Albrecht Durer, illustrations including numerous views, many double-page. (Original title cut down and mounted, worming in the text at beginning and end, some worming in the margins affects a few illustrations slightly, tear in f.207 touching text, a few repaired tears in the margins, occasional light spotting and discolouration). 16th-century German blind-stamped pigskin over wooden boards with clasps. (Sides very wormed, corners worn, lacks clasp-holders). FIRST EDITION of the Nuremburg Chronicle. A German edition appeared just over five months later.
