.69 caliber, 42" round barrel. Rear of barrel stamped U.S. LS and "P" in circle with wreaths. Dated 1837 on the tang. Lockplate marked Phila and dated 1837 in the rear of lock. Under pan marked US J. Baker Top of buttplate stamped U.S. Condition: Barrel is lightly cleaned to bright with some light stains. Bands are grey with some light staining. Lockplate is very sharp and crisp with some light staining. Walnut stock with a nice dark with some nicks and dings overall very sharp and crisp with opened-grained look. This is a very rare contract musket and only 300 made in 1837, and 600 made in 1836. It would be very hard to improve on this one.
