Group of Assorted Late 19th Century Valentines, Cards, and Envelopes, including envelopes by New England Valentine Co., Whitney, and other manufacturers, in various sizes; two small books: St. Valentine's Language of Flowers and Love's Heartsease; cards include three sachet-style examples, five mechanical cards, a German pull down valentine, a modern stand-up valentine, a Davidson Bros. New Year's greeting, a hand-colored Black valentine of a young boy peering through a watermelon, and four pansy decorated cards, (one Raphael Tuck and one Mullord), and two handwritten valentines; together with a small embossed paper covered box, (general imperfections, toned, glue residue). Provenance: Ex-collection John Darcy Noble.
