Cover, 8.5 x 14 in., signed by Paul A. Siple, Richard Byrd, and Robert Baker commemorating the 100th anniversary of naming Abraham Lincoln postmaster general, with a 3 cent commemorative Lincoln stamp. The signatures are included within a letter from boy scout Matthew S. Marsh, which also features a reproduction of a cover franked by postmaster, Abraham Lincoln, in 1835. Richard Byrd graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1912. He helped train Charles Lindbergh for his famous transatlantic flight in 1927. His first expedition to Antarctica was from 1928-1930. This signature comes on the cusp of his second expedition, which took place between 1933-1935. Although born in Ohio, Paul A. Siple was an Eagle Scout that spent a good portion of his young life in Pennsylvania. He later joined the Byrd Expedition that journeyed to the South Pole. Several features in the Antarctic are named after him. He was selected from 88 Boy Scout candidates across the United States. Condition: Typical folds with minor brittle edge at the top center fold.
