A Large Shell Caliber Shell Casing made into "Trench Art". The brass shell casing features a silver painted wooden projectile used in lieu of the original metal projectile. The shell, with projectile, stands at an impressive 42" in height, and 5-1/2" in diameter. The exterior of the shell casing shows natural patina throughout and is decorated with three women dressed in, what is most likely, the lingerie of the era. A larger eagle can be seen above one of the women. The method used to decorate the shell casing is simple dots, most likely executed with a hammer and awl. The design is simple, yet intriguing. D.W.
