(8vo) 22x13.5 cm (8¾x5½"), original cloth, rebacked with original gilt-lettered spine strip laid on. First Edition Notable for the two maps showing locations of Indian tribes, and for the text as well. Warren Heckrotte notes of the latter, "Pages 174-204 relate a visit to Indian tribes west of the Mississippi. The visit extended as far west as Fort Leavenworth on the Missouri and Fort Smith on the Arkansas. Should this make this book eligible for Wagner-Camp?" The two maps are: Aborignal America east of the Mississippi. 16x11 cm. Map of North America. denoting the boundaries of the Yearly Meetings of Friends and the locations of the various Indian Tribes. 46x43 cm. The map of North America shows, among other features, and large, independent Texas extending west to the Rio Grande, and a narrow strip north as far as the Oregon border. Lot Amendments Condition: Light wear to binding with some bumps to bottom edge and corners; hinges reinforced, scattered foxing, light foxing to foldout map, maps otherwise in nice condition with no tears or chips; very good.
