Beschreibung:

Founded in Birmingham in 1920, Henley was one of a number of makes that constructed its machines almost entirely from bought-in components, the most famous of these ‘assemblers’ being Brough Superior. Models with Villiers and Blackburne engines were built initially, with others powered by JAP and MAG engines following. Company founders the Clarke brothers were forced to sell up in 1927, at which point new owners Arthur Greenwood and Jack Crump transferred production to Oldham and renamed the firm ‘New Henley’. The firm ceased trading in 1929. Acquired in the early 1970s and presented in original and unmolested ‘barn find’ condition, this New Henley represents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a very rare overhead-valve sports model of the late Vintage period. The machine is said to have been in Austria from new and is offered with bill of sale and old-style Austrian logbook (Kraftfahrzeugbrief) issued in Vienna in 1939. An ideal ‘Banbury’ bike, ripe for sympathetic restoration.
