Signed Okatori Japan, Kyoto, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) The finely carved ivory netsuke, depicting a quail with neatly incised plumage, perched on a straw hat (kasa) and a leafy stock of millet. Underneath the straw head is another large head of leafy millet, one of the leaves forming the natural himotoshi and the signature beside it OKATORI. LENGTH 3.7 cm Condition: Good condition with minor wear. Provenance: German private collection.
