An ivory study of a tiger by Okatori, Kyoto, late 18th/early 19th century seated, its head lowered and turned to the right as it bites into a large bamboo root, forming a compact composition in slightly worn and well toned ivory, one leg forming the himotoshi and the eye pupils inlaid, signed in a rectangular reserve Okatori 4.2cm., 1 5/8 in.
