Classic plaster "roly-poly" statue of William Howard Taft with baseball in hand, marked across the front Bill the Beamer and across the back Our Mascot, with bottom rounded so the figure wobbles, bottom marked Bill the Beamer Co New York / Copyright 1909 By J.H. Trant, 4.5 in. high. Taft was the first president to be widely known as an avid fan of professional baseball. He attended several baseball games while in office and began the tradition of the President throwing the pitch at the season opener.
