In the article by John Davis Hatch, "John Vander Lyn's Prints of Niagara Falls," The Antiques Magazine, December 1990, pages 1252-1261, the author traces only 17 impressions, in total, of the prints (note 20). Perhaps a quantity of remaindered stock was destroyed. It is known that Vander Lyn did not prosper from the venture, and he died, essentially in poverty, in his native Kingston, New York, in 1852.
