.58 rimfire caliber, 40" barrel. The remnants of an eagle head and 4 date remain on the rear of the barrel. The lock is marked U.S. Springfield, with an eagle motif ahead of the hammer, and dated 1865 at the rear. An ESA inspector cartouche appears near the lock screw opposite the plate. Walnut stock with three barrel bands, sling swivels, tulip headed rod with swelled shank and U.S. marked buttplate. Condition: The barrel has a dark plum and gray mottled patina, with splotches of blue finish. The breechblock, lock and hammer all have a dark gunmetal patina. The stock has some nicks and dings, but is in good condition. The bore and mechanics are excellent.
