Title: Two original albumen photographs, mounted to card Author: Johnson, C.W.J. Place: Monterey, Cal. Publisher: Date: c.1885 Description: 2 original albumen photographs, mounted to card: The Lone Cypress. Lover's Lane. Cypress Drive. Each measures 4¾x8, mounted to gray card, with photographer's information printed at bottom margin, the title of each photograph rubberstamped to bottom margin. Charles Wallace Jacob Johnson (1833-1903) was a miner, musician, and photographer. His Monterey photography studio at the old Del Monte resort hotel operated from 1881-1898. He dies in Salinas on January 17, 1903. Lot Amendments Condition: Some wear to each card mount and yellowing; The Lone Cypress edges of photograph with a few closed tears; the name EB Kimball penciled lightly to verso of each; very good.
