TWO MIRROR-BLACK-GLAZED LONG-NECKED BOTTLE VASESKangxi
One vase with a pear-shaped profile rising from a slightly splayed foot to an elongated neck, finely coated in a brilliant shiny rich dark glaze, the interior plain, 22cm (8 3/4in) high; the second vase with a globular body below the long neck, with traces of floral gilt decoration, 25cm (9 1/2in) high. Compare the globular vase with a related black-glazed vase, Kangxi, in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (acc.no.14.40.23). A similar black-glazed vase in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, is illustrated in Sekai tōji zenshū (Ceramic Art of the World), Vol.15, Tokyo, 1983, p.194, pl.251.
