Two Daguerreotypes: Boston School, 19th Century, Sixth-plate Daguerreotype of a Woman Seated in an Acorn-Tipped Chair, and American School, 19th Century, Hand-tinted Quarter-plate Daguerreotype of a Man in a Stovepipe Hat, both in embossed leather cases. Condition: The first has tarnish, dust, split case, worn and abraded, leather cracking horizontally in two lines across top and bottom of case, silk pad faded and stained; the second with minor tarnish, brown spots in l.r. quadrant, white spots in u.l. quadrant, case worn and abraded, cover missing, case opening up at u.l. and l.l. corners, velvet liner faded and worn, not examined out of cases. Provenance: A private New England collection.
