Manuscript Document, 2 pp, small folio (conjoined leaves), [Puerto de Ocoa?, Hispaniola, 7th October 1571], in Spanish, recording the orders given to the Spanish fleet by their commander Cristóbal de Eraso, with early annotated outer cover, docketed on verso of final leaf. Old folds. An interesting insight into the daily running of the Spanish fleet in the latter part of the 16th century. Eraso, captain general of the navy, let the ships under his command know that they should restock with food, fuel and water, but be ready to depart within four days or be subject to a fine. Mention is also made of a religious service and celebration held on board the flagship. This document records events which took place on a voyage from Spain to New Spain and back again, apparently departing August 10, 1571 and returning November of 1572.
