Engraved map, hand-colored in outline, approx 1270 x 1930 mm overall, 4 sheets (unjoined) each comprising 16 segments mounted on linen (3 of 4 sheets retain early index tabs). Two inset maps: the southern part of Florida, and a general map of North America. Original green morocco case. Faint touch of offsetting; case scuffed with wear to top panel and tab. VERY RARE AND EXPANSIVE MAP, IN FINE CONDITION AND ORIGINAL CASE. Highly detailed map showing county boundaries, court houses, the homes of doctors, and comments on the topography, e.g. "Immence Plains of light salt sand mixed with fragments of Snail Shells moved with the wind discovering Peaks of Volcanic Rocks" (near the mouth of the Red River).
