Title: War of the Classes Author: London, Jack Place: New York Publisher: Macmillan Co. Date: 1905 Description: xix, [1], 278 + [3] ad pp. Maroon cloth, spine stamped in gilt. Jacket. First Edition. Inscribed and signed by Jack London on front free endpaper to his personal physician William S. Porter: "To Dr. W. S. Porter. Jack London. July 29, 1913." Dr. Porter was head of Merritt Hospital in Oakland and Jack London's longtime personal physician. He was at London's deathbed on November 22, 1916, and signed his death certicate. In original plain paper jacket; front and rear panels blank, with price and publisher imprint on lower half of spine portion. Scarce, only 2530 copies printed. BAL 11885; Sisson & Martens, p. 2. Lot Amendments Condition: Top edge dusty, else fine in unrestored jacket that is missing the top half of the spine portion; front flap detached, but present; large chips to top edge of front and rear panel.
