Numbered pages with mining news, stocks of mines and railways, new patents. Roman numeral pages with ads for mining equipment, books (including titles such as "A Manual of Practical Assaying," "Lectures on Mining," and interestingly, "English-German Dictionary of the Terms and expressions employed in Mining and Metallurgy..."), and even ads for stockbrokers. A snapshot of the mining industry after the major "rushes" were over (in the lower 48, anyway) and it settled in as a day-to-day business. Condition: Hole through the top of the numbered pages; a chunk at bottom and hole in different place at top of first group of ads. Minor toning and scuffing.
