Album of financial documents collected by James Stackett of Palo Alto in the 1920s and 1930s, approximately 42 items, much related to Wells Fargo in the Gold Rush era, including: 1853 sight draft made out to Horace Thomas in San Francisco. * 1854 Wells Fargo commission envelope (very early). * Two 1853 promissory notes with Wells Fargo hand-stamps. * Rare Wells Fargo 1854 bill of exchange. * Manuscript letter to accompany a Wells Fargo bill of exchange to Placerville, 1856. * Manuscript letter on Wells Fargo stationery, Oroville, 1857. * 1858 Wells Fargo check. * Wells Fargo collection envelope for $5000 from San Francisco to Louisville, KY. * Receipt for a box of human remains shipped by Wells Fargo to New York, 1859. * Wells Fargo commission envelope, 1861, for steerage passage from Galway to NY. * Wells Fargo steamer ticket for John & Bridget Purcell from NY to SF, 1861. * Wells Fargo, Portland, OR, bill of exchange, 1861. * Wells Fargo Sacramento check, 1861. * Manuscript Santa Clara county land indenture, 1857. * Various early land documents, some with Nevada revenue stamps. * Nevada revenue deed, 1869. * Copy letter requesting earthquake relief funds, June 1906. * Unpaid bills of exchange of Adams Express, 1864. * Incorporation certificate for the "Imperial Gold & Silver Mining Company," 1863. * Pacific Mail and Panama Railroad Company shipping document, 1867.
