Beschreibung:

Thangka des Buddha Amitabha
Tibet um 1800. Gouache auf Stoff, auf textile Unterlage montiert. Im Zentrum auf dem Lotosthron der bekrönte Buddha im padmasana, die Hände in dhyana mudra, in denen er ein Gefäß hält. Unten links ist die dreiköpfige, mehrarmige Weiße Tara als Ushnishavijaya dargestellt. Am oberen Bildrand drei buddhistische Gelehrte, darunter der Gründer der Gelug-Schule, Tsongkapa Losangdrapa.

Die detailreiche Darstellung mit ihren zahlreichen feinen Lotosblüten, filigranen Schmuckelementen und sogar goldfarbenen Drachen auf Buddhas Gewand, besticht zudem durch ihre leuchtenden Farben.
Die Gelug-Schule ist eine bedeutende Glaubensgemeinschaft des tibetischen Buddhismus. Sie wurde zu Beginn des 15. Jahrhunderts gegründet.

Starke Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Einrisse am Rand, stellenweise Farbabplatzungen, o.l. Wasserschäden.

On the lower left side, the three-headed, multi-armed White Tara is depicted as Ushnishavijaya. At the top of the picture, three Buddhist scholars, including the founder of the Gelug school, Tsongkapa Losangdrapa.

The detailed depiction with its numerous fine lotus blossoms, filigree jewellery elements and even golden dragons on Buddha's robe, also captivates with its bright colours.
The Gelug School is an important denomination of Tibetan Buddhism. It was founded at the beginning of the 15th century.

Heavy signs of use and age. Tears on the edge, partially paint loss water damage upper left.
