London: by J. H[aviland]. for Thomas Slater 1630, Small folio, blue levant morocco gilt, g.e., by W. Pratt joints and lower corners and board edges rubbed, front free endpaper torn at gutter, the map linen-backed, washed, a few remaining stains, fols. C3 and H1 each with a tiny stain affecting a total of 7 letters . FIRST EDITION, second issue with the errors corrected, Smith's engraved arms on verso of the title, folding engraved plate in nine compartments by Martin Droeshout (second state). Most of the contents of this rare volume appeared in a more condensed version in volume 2 of Purchas's Pilgrimes (1625). The map is often lacking. Sabin 82851; STC 22796; Church 417; Alden 630/162. Provenance : Eighteenth-century signature on title and dedication leaf (faded from washing).
