Provenance : John Peachey, Sussex (bookplate dated 1782); West Dean Library, Sussex (library label); acquired from Marlborough Rare Books, 1984. FIRST EDITION of this much admired work with early aquatint illustrations. The work comprises: Rome (2 parts), Bologna (one part), Venice (one part), Naples (2 parts) and a series of 10 additional plates on Herculaneum.
