Philadelphia: c. 1865. Tinted lithograph (510 x 610 mm). Framed. Condition: horizontal crease to upper part of image, expert restoration to two tears into image. During the 1860s a number of skating parks opened in Philadelphia. This print depicts skaters on the ice at the Philadelphia Skating Club, notable for the adjacent building, the Sharp and Thompson Foundry who possibly contributed to the cost of the print. The copy owned by the Library Company of Philadelphia is the only other known copy and the print does not appear to be cited in any of the usual references.
