Later vellum, two maroon leather lettering-pieces on flat spine (backstrip defective at head). A collection of works concerning the building of St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. Michaelangelo was summoned by Pope Paul III in 1546 to give fresh impetus to its rebuilding, and his work was confirmed by Paul's successors until Michelangelo's death in 1564. His work was continued by Vignola, Pirro Ligorio and finally Giacomo della Porta and Carlo Fontana who completed the dome in 1590.
