ANDERSEN, Hans Christian (1805-1875). Autograph manuscript signed of 'Lille Svends Udtalelse om Vejrliget i Vinter' (Little Svend's talk on the weather in winter), a poem, n.p. [Copenhagen], n.d. [January/February 1875], in Danish, with 13 autograph emendations to 8 lines, 1 pages, 8vo , integral blank leaf (some discolouration and foxing, split at vertical fold, not affecting text). 'It's funny weather we are having!'. A child exclaims at the changeability of the winter weather - 'The slippery ice can hurt you - Yet I won't be angry - if I fall, I will get back up again!'. The publisher's manuscript of one of Andersen's last works. One word on the penultimate line is omitted from published versions - originally, it seems, owing to the illegibility of the manuscript. There present manuscript also contains a variant reading on l.11. Andersen's diary records the dispatch of this poem to his publisher on 5 February 1875. His health was already in terminal decline, and he died the following August.
