[ROBINSON, ROLAND EVANS] Forest and Stream Fables. By Awahsoose the Bear. New York: Forest and Stream Publishing Co., 1886. First edition. Publisher's printed paper wrappers, sewn (by Seybolt), preserved in modern paper slipcase and chemise. 8 x 5 3/4 inches; [24] pp. (unpaginated); Advertisements, illustrated throughout. One-inch tear to rear cover, else a fine copy. Robinson's first separate publication. This is Paul Seybolt's copy, and contains two notes written to him by the author's daughter-in-law. Seybolt writes in January 1971 that the sewing is not original: "The present string was in one of the R E R's tackle boxes in the barn at Ferrisburgh. I know - I stole it." With three fables on a fishing theme, including "The Unlucky Bass," The Foolish Fish," and "The Wise and Foolish Pike."
