PTOLEMAEUS, Claudius. Geografia, cioe descrittione universale della terra... Padua: Paolo and Francesco Galignani, 1621 (Part II: 1620). 2 parts in one volume, 2 o (301 x 207 mm). Titles with engraved vignettes incorporating printers' device, 64 engraved maps by Girolamo Porro consisting of a small folding double-hemisphere world map and 63 half-page maps, including 3 further world maps, woodcut diagrams in text, woodcut initials and ornaments. (Perforated stamp in title and last leaf, small ink stamp to first leaf, light browing.) 19th-century half vellum and marbled boards (chipping to spine label and edges). Provenance : Marco Lazzari (old ink stamp on title). Second edition of Leonardo Cernoti's translation of Magini's edition of Ptolemy, an exact reprint of the 1597-98 edition from the same press (see preceding lot).
