Beschreibung:

.38 caliber cartridge conversion, 5.5" octagonal barrel, S/N 2026. The top flat of the barrel is marked Patented Sept 14, 1858 / E. Remington & Sons. Ilion New York U.S.A. / New-Model, and features fine engraved brackets surrounding it, with additional engravings in the Nimschke style at the breech. The scrollwork extends onto the frame, with the topstrap having a fish fin motif. The backstrap has an engraved wavy line and dot motif that extends under the butt. The cylinder features a beautiful deep relief etched scene depicting a Union and Confederate officer on horseback, with guns drawn in a fight. The triggerguard features silver plating over brass, with a woven engraving on the underside. The grips are of old ivory. Condition: The blue finish is mostly present on the barrel, with some blue showing in the lever. The rest of the frame and cylinder have faded to a plum patina. Some of the silver plating is present on the triggerguard, mostly in the protected areas. The grips show some light staining and age cracks on the underside. There appears to be a microfracture on the gripstrap behind the triggerguard. The bore and action are crisp.
