Sixteenth century editions of the two great Greek historians, with title-pages in Greek and Latin, prefaces in Latin, the main texts in Greek. With occasional old ink marginalia and underlinings, more extensive in the Thucydides, in an intriguing scholarly miniscule hand. Herodotus title-page with ms. notes in Greek, ownership signatures of Elias Taddelius and Edward W. Benson. With two bookplates. Lot Amendments Condition: Covers worn and discolored, joints cracked with earlier repairs; Herodutus title-page darkened and soiled, a few repairs including 2½x1" patch with portions relettered, some minor soiling and aging within, else very good.
