Extending Across the Great Desert to the Tenth Degree of Northern Latitude, and From Kouka in Bornou, to Sackatoo, the Capital of the Felatah Empire Author: Denham, [Dixon] and [Hugh] Clapperton Place: London Publisher: John Murray Date: 1826 Description: Two volumes. lxxxviii, 321; [iv], 413 pp. 9 (of 12) plates, including 1 hand-colored lithograph, 4 maps. 8¼x5¼, contemporary half-calf with marbled boards, gilt-lettered spine. Second Edition. The accounts of Denham and Clapperton of their important explorations in Africa; by the time of this publication Clapperton had left on his second (and last) journey into the African interior, but he left his journal to be prepared for the press. Lot Amendments Condition: Leather scuffed and worn, boards rubbed, binding of Volume 1 detached along front hinge; light foxing; else good. Sold as is. Item number: 203046
