MILITARY UNIFORMS – Mundiry Imperatorskoi Rossiiskoi Armii . [Uniforms of the Imperial Russian Army: Guards; Regular Cavalry and Cossack Hosts; Infantry; Artillery; Various military Establishments.] St. Petersburg: Military Press, circa 1840. 5 large hand-coloured engraved plates, various sizes, the largest c. 900 x 500mm, dissected and mounted on linen each folding down to 110 x 85mm. Each in original green morocco slipcase and chemise, spine titled in gilt, sides stamped in blind with an all over design, together in the original green morocco box, spine stamped in gilt (box splitting at joints and evenly browned). Provenance : Academy of Historical Material Culture (stamp on the versos). A VERY RARE GROUP, IN THE ORIGINAL GREEN MOROCCO BOX , of these finely hand-coloured plates summarizing the insignia and colours of the regiments of the Russian Imperial army. AE and ABPC record no other copy at auction since records began.
