Lequatre, 1785, 3 vol., 4to, cont. marbl. calf (corners rubbed and bumped), gilt orn. flat spines (joint of 1st vol. splitting, other joints rubbed, heads and tails def. lacking some sm. parts of leather), red leather title label, marbled endpapers, marbled edges, [4]-xxiv-481-[1], [4]-534-[1], [4]-662-[5-1 bl.] pp. (some very sm. tears in the folding lines of some of the pl.). Inside very good copy.
Later ed. (orig. Montargis 1779) of this Latin-French historical and explanatory commentaries by Turpin de Crissé (1716-1793). Engr. ills : vign. on title (repeated in all parts), 2 full page portraits of Turpin de Crissé by Picquenot after Pujos and Caesar by Henriquez (part I) and 40 folding pl. of military actions. French trsl. by d'Ablancourt, retouched by de Wailly and augmented with military notes and corrections by Turpin. The Latin text is based on the London ed. of 1712 by Clarke.
