(nos.1, 45, 67 and 90 lacking one leaf of the two that complete a number, no.46 torn with loss of text, numerous clean tears, many repaired, generally browned and spotted in the first two volumes, some old creasing.) Later half cloth (nos.1 and 471 loosely inserted). VERY RARE: AN IMPORTANT RUN OF THE FIRST NEWSPAPER TO BE PUBLISHED IN THE EASTERN CAPE produced by Louis Henri Meurant 'journalist, editor and publisher, magistrate, commandant, member of the Cape parliament, and an unwitting pioneer of Afrikaans' ( DSAB ).
