MARTIN BLADEN HAWKE, LORD HAWKE Recollections and Reminiscences London: Williams and Norgate, 1924. 8vo., 15 half tone plates (some spotting), original blue cloth lettered in gilt, upper cover embossed with the white rose. PRESENTATION COPY TO CHRISTOPHER HESELTINE, with his bookplate and tipped-in letter to him from the author, 3½p., dated Huttons Ambo Hall, York, Sunday, beginning: "So nice to see you both at C.C. -- but what a squash!" Then offering his book as an early birthday present, "I want to give you enclosed and hope it may be of some interest to you -- someday I will sign it for you," half-title duly inscribed: "In memory of many happy days and with best wishes from The Author". Britton p. 20; Goldman p. 101; Padwick 7657. [and:] C. B. FRY Cricket ( Batsmanship ) London: Eveleigh Nash, [1914]. 8vo., 15 double-sided plates only (of 16) after Montague Dixon (lacks plate opposite p. 244), original green cloth lettered in black (spine soiled and torn at head). Provenance : signed inscription by the author on front blank -- Regimental Institute Library, Richborough (stamp at end). Second edition. Fry evidently cared little for the "action photographs", inscribing this copy: "C.B. Fry but he deprecates the illustration as post-fabricated by a non-cricketer". Padwick 696. (2)
