The Versailles was built in Medford, Massachusetts in 1848 by J.T. Foster. She registered 547 tons and was 133 feet in length. She was described as a full model with a deck cabin and built of oak copper and iron fastened so that she was a superior class ship. In addition to the voyage detailed in the present log she made a voyage from Boston to San Francisco, arriving in the latter place March 24, 1852, after a passage of 128 days.
