A large copy of a fine work which is 'part of the great English tradition of landscape painting... perhaps the best book of its kind' (Handasyde Buchanan Nature into Art p.145). The plates are reduced from a series of paintings by Shiels (1785-1857) now in the Agricultural Museum of the University of Edinburgh. Nissen ZBI 2564 (calls for 57 plates in error); Wood p.442.
