Louis XV Gilt-Bronze Mounted Red Lacquer and Parcel Gilt Bombe Commode Adrien Faizelot Delorme mid 18th century The fleur de peche serpentine marble top above a conforming case fitted with two drawers sans traverse, the canted stiles with pierced mounts continuing to chutes and ending in sabots; the front right corner stamped DELORME. Height 34 inches (86.3 cm), width 51 1/2 inches (1.30 m), depth 25 inches (63.5 cm). Adrien Faizelot Delorme maitre in 1748 Provenance: Mallet, London Adrien Delorme, whose family of ebenistes added another name to their surname, Faizelot. Adrien was the eldest son of the maker of Francois Faizelot-Delorme who specialized in furniture veneered in Chinese lacquer or 'japanned' (imitation lacquer). With previous restorations, repaired breaks to marble top and now with inpainting along lines of repairs, lifting and rippling to Chinese lacquer of drawer fronts, rubbing and losses to gilt decoration and lacquer work, restoration to decoration throughout, age cracks to lacquer of lower drawer along lines of construction underneath, losses to lacquer decoration of right side of case, japanned decoration to legs with losses, especially to inside of front legs, liftings to chutes surounding drawers, and sides of front stiles.
