Text at top reads, "Assassinated at Washington / 14 April 1865," above a quotation from Lincoln; text at bottom reads, "The Late / Lamented / President / Lincoln." Catalogued in Sullivan and Fischer as AL-M1. Ribbon designed by Thomas Stevens of Coventry as a modification of the 1865 inaugural ribbon catalogued as AL-I3. Ribbon without tassle, with some spots of discoloration, and some imperfections (possibly from previous attachment) near upper edge. Silk stevengraph ribbon, 2.25 x 7.75 in. (not including tassle), featuring bust portrait of George Washington below an eagle grasping a flag and above artistically presented text reading, "The Father / Of His / Country." A shield with "E Pluribus Unum" banner flowing overhead graces the bottom portion of the ribbon. Catalogued in Sullivan and Fischer as GW-34. Ribbon with light surface soil and spots of discoloration in certain areas including spot at top of Washington's head.
