[ With :] Autograph musical quotation, written just above the closing signature. LISZT PLAYS A FUGUE OF BACH: "What you are offering me...is very attractive. A landscape by Poussin and Claude Lorrain Bach, Orlando di Lasso and Beethoven! A great oak in whose shadow ants like myself feel proud and pleased to accomplish our daily labors; - the hospitality and the affection of a man of warmth and spirit - such things are well worth wishing for, and I am extremely grateful for your cordial invitation! Nevertheless, I can only half accept...My constant traveling during the past years has made my staying in a hotel almost indispensable. Even in Paris...I stay in a hotel...As soon as I arrive...we will continue and finish at our leisure the fugue of Bach that you cited [illustrated here with two bars of music, the theme of the fugue in question]..."
