LAVALLÉE, Joseph (1747-1816). Voyage Pittoresque et Historique de l'Istrie et de la Dalmatie, rédigé d'après l'itinéraire de L. F. Cassas. Paris: Didot l'ainé, 1802. 2° (500 x 340mm). Half-title, list of subscribers. Engraved frontispiece (almost detached), title and 70 views and other illustrations on 65 leaves, 8 double-page or folding, by or under the direction of Née after Cassas, 2 double-page maps. (3 plates torn, some leaves somewhat browned or spotted). 19th-century French red half morocco gilt (scuffed). Cassas visited Istria and Dalmatia in 1782 when he was commissioned to make drawings of the antiquities of the area. The second part of Lavallée's text is edited from Cassas's journal of the voyage.
