Kitab al-Du'aat (Book of Prayers), in Arabic, decorated manuscript on paper [probably Egypt, dated 936 AH. (1529 AD.)] Two volumes in one, together 73 pages (including 3 endleaves), 9 lines in black naskh, some key words and phrases in red, some faint water-staining, leaves paginated in later hand, a few early ink inscriptions and stamps to endleaves, 170 by 130mm., housed in eighteenth-century block-stamped leather with flap, details heightened in gold, rebacked, edges worn with some loss This appealing and pocket-sized sixteenth-century prayerbook comprises two separate works: Kitab al Da'ewat al-natajaba't Isma 'Allah Alif wa Wahid (‘Prayers of the thousand and one names of God’) and Khawas Qur'an Al-Azim (‘Characteristics of the great Qur'an’). The two works have separate colophons, dating both to 936 AH.
