Jauna (Dominique). Histoire générale des roïaumes de Chypre, de Jerusalem, d'Arménie, et d'Egypte, comprenant les croisades, avec plus d'exactitude qu'aucun auteur moderne les ait encore rapportés, 2 volumes, 1st edition, Leiden: Jean Luzac, 1747, title-pages in red and black, 2 engraved portraits (1 folding), 6 folding maps and plans, engraved headpieces to each chapter, a little light browning, very occasional marginal damp-staining, Egypt map (facing p. 1204) slightly damp-stained in margins and along central fold, with small hole at intersection of folds, modern bookplates (C. M. Sophoclides and Gustavi [sic] von Hofsten), contemporary calf, rebacked retaining portions of original gilt spines, extremities worn, 4to (24.3 x 18.5 cm) (Qty: 2) Blackmer 870; Cobham-Jeffery p. 28; cf. Atabey 614 for the second edition of 1785. 'Jauna, a councillor of [Empress] Maria Theresa, to whom the work is dedicated, states in his preface that he spent many years in the Levant. His book does not contain accounts of his travels, being mostly historical, but contains very good maps of Greece, Egypt, Cyprus and Palestine' (Blackmer).
