Vellum, partially printed, 9.25 x 13.25 in. Verso with manuscript indenture for the sale of the land in 1819. Monroe's signature still dark. Three seals present, one on recto, two on verso. Wonderful image upper left with motto "Militi Forte et Fideli" (Strong and faithful soldier). The land was in the Illinois Bounty Lands tract, 160 acres. From the Illinois Bounty Lands map, it appears this land was about half way between Spoon River and La Moine River (marked "Crooked" on the Bounty Lands Map) on the west side of the Illinois River, in Fulton or Schuyler County. Condition: Surface soil. Ink on verso somewhat faded.
