INDIA & PAKISTAN – Lord Lawrence & Havelock Three leather ornate bound books on India, the Story of Sir Henry Lawrence – The Defender of Lucknow by Lucy Taylor, 1897, with The Story of Sir Henry Havelock – The Hero of Lucknow, 1896, both bound as one in full dark blue prize binding with raised bands and gilting to spine, front cover and borders, with marbleised edges, rather worn ex-libris; Life of John Nicholson Soldier and Administrator, based on private and unpublished documents, by Capt Lionel Trotter, with portraits and maps, London, 1897, ex-libris, ¾ black leather, binding and edges worn, some foxing, with large fold out map of the Punjab at the rear. In addition to Nicholson's service during the Mutiny and his death at the storming of Delhi, there is much detailed coverage of his career in India, Afghanistan and the Punjab.; History of India from the earliest times to the Present Day by L.J Trotter, Engraved frontispiece; 22 engraved illustrations by W.J. Whymper; large folding colour map of India, 1874, with a presentation inscription dated 1878. Ex-libris, full navy calf with gilted spine and marbles edges, binding worn and top half of spine becoming loose.(3)
