Robinson Date: 1786 Description: [6], xvi, 489, [16] pp. With 3 folding engraved maps. (4to) 29.3x22.5 cm (11½x8¾"), original boards with new blue paper covering and new spine replicating the originals. First Edition in English. Significant gathering of voyages by the German naturalist who was on James Cook's second Pacific voyage, accompanied by his son Georg Forster. Oddly, or perhaps tellingly, in the discussion of Spanish voyages and explorations on the north-west coast of America San Francisco Bay is not mentioned, indicating perhaps the secretive nature of the Spanish.. The three maps are: A New Map of the Middle part of Asia, drawn up from a great number of the most modern maps & relations, as well printed as well manuscript for illustrating the Discoveries made in the North. by John Reinhold Forster. 1783 | Engraved by T.
