Maps and charts, many folding. (8vo) 21.5x13 cm (8½x5"), half leather with gilt-stamped leather spine labels. First Edition. The first 17 volumes of Kerr's 18 volume compilation of voyages, comprising all of the first part ("Voyages and Travels of Discovery in the middle ages; from the era of Alfred, King of England, in the ninth century, to that of Don Henry of Portugal at the commencement of the fourteenth century."); all of the second part ("General Voyages and Travels chiefly of Discovery; from the era of Don Henry Prince of Portugal, in 1412, to that of George III in 1760."); and all but the final volume of the third part. Kerr died in 1813, the later volumes being published posthumously over the next 11 years. Condition: Bindings heavily rubbed; foxing and soiling throughout, sometimes heavily; vols. 13, 14 lacking some preliminary leaves and title pages supplied in facsimile; good to very good.
