Beschreibung:

Oil on canvas - Sig. - 59 x 28,5 cm (oval) - Exhibition labels on the reverse
Remarks In 1914 Gustave Van de Woestyne was commissioned by Hubert De Craene, lead manufacturer in Waregem, to portray his eldest son. After the war, the painter settled with his family in Waregem. Van de Woestyne paints at their home, on the Potegem domain, to portray the figures in their familiar environment. De Craene recognizes the masterful talent of the portraitist and asks him around 1921 to interpret his deceased son Ferdinand, if he would have had reached the age of seven. Van de Woestyne imagines him as a first communion lace, with the aureola of an angel.
