GRIGOR'EV, Boris Dmitrievich (1886-1939, illustrator) and Sasha CHERNII [pseudonym of GLIKBERG, Alexander Mikhailovich] (1880-1932). Detskii Ostrov . [Children Island]. Berlin and Gdansk: Uhlstein for Slowo, 1921. 4° (310 x 255mm). Lithographed title, 19 full-page lithographs, illustrations in text. (Light browning in margins.) Original half cloth, coloured lithograph mounted on front cover (some spotting). FIRST EDITION of this celebrated children's book, still in print today. Detskii Ostrov adds new poems to Tuk-Tuk , a collection which Chernii had published in 1913 before his emigration. The drawings by Grigor'ev are fine examples of his broad talent. Grigor'ev collaborated with Yakovlev and Khlebnikov, and contributed to the famous journal Satirikon .
